Dear Students and Families:

Please allow us to welcome you formally to Monsignor Joo S. Anto School No. 31, the new home of Elizabeths Gifted and Talented Program.  We hope that you have had an enjoyable summer break and have progressed through your summer reading assignments.  All of the sixth grade teachers are anxiously waiting to see you and get our school year off to a great start.  The first day of school for students is Wednesday, September 6.  On that day, you can expect to meet with your new homeroom family, go on a tour of our beautiful new building, and learn about some of the great things that we have planned for this year.

Within the next few weeks, you will be receiving summer mailings with bus route information and school forms for the beginning of the year.  For those of you who will be shopping for school supplies over the next few weeks, here is a list of materials that you will need for your academic subjects:

  • One binder (at least 1.5 inches in size)

  • One ream of loose leaf paper to be kept at home for school use

  • Five notebooks (at least two should be hardback marble notebooks)

  • Five pocket folders

  • Erasers, pencils, blue/black and red pens (non-erasable)

  • One box of tissues for your homeroom

In addition to the materials listed above, the following supplies are recommended and would be helpful to students:

  • One set of headphones/earbuds (to be stored in the classroom for school use)

  • Used tennis balls (to be donated to the school for the purpose of muffling the noise made by moving student chairs and desks)

You will learn about any other materials that you may need during the first week of school, but this list should get you off to a great start.  If you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming school year, please feel free to contact Mr. Michael Ojeda, one of the sixth grade social studies teachers.  He may be reached by calling the school directly or by calling 908-436-6130 and accessing mailbox #21914.

We are all looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and exploration.  Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation and we will see you in September.  Take care.

Sincerely,

The Sixth Grade Faculty
